Equal Exchange is hiring for 2 positions in our Distribution Department – one will be based at our Canton, MA location, the other at our Lakeville, MA location.
- Employment Status: Part-time, regular non-exempt position on the worker-owner track
- Hours: Monday through Wednesday, 8 hours/day; Lakeville (7:00am to 03:30pm), or Canton (Hours Upon Manager’s Request)
- Starting Salary: $13.70 / Hour

- Responsible for: Order Processing/Pick/Pack/Shipping/Stacking etc.
Qualifications:
- An interest in the mission of Equal Exchange
- Experience with or interest in working for a cooperative organization preferred
- Must be able to do frequent lifting (up to 75 lb), Pick/Pack/Stack
- An ability to pay attention to detail and work accurately.
- Basic understanding of English.
- Previous experience in warehouse work is desirable but not mandatory.
- Be a quick learner and enjoy working as part of a team.
- A desire to learn and contribute to the success of Equal Exchange. Willingness to do other tasks as needed by the organization in operations or elsewhere.
Responsibilities (approx. 90 – 100%):
- Order-Picking. Organize assigned pick sheets for fast and most accurate picking. Follow special instructions of the Sales & Customer Service teams as necessary. Shipping. Prepare orders for UPS and truck shipments in time for daily deadline. Fill out all paperwork necessary for each outbound shipment.
- Warehouse organization. Follow systems set up to ensure product rotation. Keep warehouse area organized, floor swiped and free from debris. Remove damaged products from picking locations.
Personnel & Worker Ownership/Fair Trade Development (approx. 0 – 10%)
- Participate in staff, team, department, and educational (Exchange Time) meetings.
- Understand our producer partners, trading policies, and the Fair Trade movement.
- Understand and participate effectively in our worker cooperative model.
