A collectively-owned radical bookstore and community event space

Our co-operative is looking to dramatically expand revenue from business-to-business sales and offsite events, including school book fairs, conferences, and festivals. We are seeking someone who has relevant professional experience to plan and oversee growth in these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Building relationships and cultivating partnership opportunities with local schools, businesses, and other organizations
  • Managing existing relationships
  • Pitching, planning, and overseeing the execution of school book fairs and off-site sales events, including:
    • Developing and presenting event proposals
    • Serving as point of contact with schools and event organizers
    • Coordinating logistics such as inventory, staffing, and operations in collaboration with the collective
    • Preparing debriefs/retrospectives, including tracking event sales and assessing profit and loss on an ongoing basis and via year end reporting

Requirements

  • Effective and persuasive communication skills; both oral and written
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks to meet assigned deadlines
  • Knowledge of office software (esp. spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel)
