Date and Time:
July 19th, 2018, 1:30pm – 2:30pm EDT
$25 for USFWC members / $40 for non-members, with proceeds going toward the operation of the USFWC’s Continuing Education series
Over the last year, the USFWC and some of its members have been working with the New Economy Coalition’s policy working group on creating a national New Economy-focused policy platform that can be used as an advocacy and messaging tool. For more info about the goals of the full NEC platform, click here.
Within the Policy Platform there are four initial working groups: Housing and Community Land Trusts, Divest/Invest, Climate, and Worker Cooperatives.
As the national federation of worker-owned and -governed businesses, we’ve been focusing on the worker cooperatives section, and we want to hear from you. Our working group has drafted ideas, which we have circulated earlier this year; this webinar on July 19 is your opportunity to hear about our progress and provide feedback on version 3.
Can’t make the webinar? A recording will be made available afterwards, and you can comment directly on the document. We’re looking for feedback on this version by August 3rd.
What to expect:
A brief introduction to the New Economy Coalition Policy Platform as well as the USFWC’s national level public policy and advocacy initiatives
An overview of the platform from the USFWC Communications Director Mo Manklang as well as working group members Yassi Eskandari of the Sustainable Economies Law Center and Sadaf Syal of the New York City Network of Worker Cooperatives
Questions and Answers with the working group
A brief update about the Main Street Employee Ownership Act, an exciting bill focused on growing worker ownership across the country, which we expect to pass this year
Updates about the Policy and Advocacy Council and how you can get involved.
[This session will be offered in English.]
