The USFWC is honored to share this tribute to Black Cooperative Leaders, called “Our Giants.” Written and edited by our own Matt Feinstein, and performed by Smiley Rojas-Nuñez, this video pays tribute to many of the leaders who have shaped the worker co-op movement, and continue to invest deeply in their local communities as well as the wider ecosystem. This video’s release is a bittersweet recognition of the tremendous life’s work of Clark Arrington, who passed away this last September.
“From his pioneering work with the Federation of Southern Cooperatives, to his creative contributions at Equal Exchange and The Working World, Clark’s impact will be felt for years to come. He has personally influenced so many of the Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance (PACA) and the USFWC’s current and past board, staff, and membership. Clark’s legacy lays foundations for legal and financial empowerment for cooperative workers from across the U.S. all the way to East Africa. For 50 years, Clark brought his clever problem-solving and boundless energy to addressing the challenges of our movement.” said Esteban Kelly, Executive Director of the USFWC.
We were proud to have this video premiere at the 2024 Worker Co-op Conference – a timely recognition of our Black leadership and especially Clark Arrington.
