On Nov 8, 2024 in Guam, the Senate’s Committee on Environment, Revenue and Taxation, Labor, Procurement, and Statistics, Research and Planning convened a hearing for Bill 365-37, the Guam Uniform Limited Cooperative Association Act. The hearing was spearheaded by the honorable Senator Sabina Flores Perez, who is the lead sponsor of the bill. The USFWC applauds this effort to forward the cooperative agenda in Guam, especially Senator Flores Perez.
The hearing, which can be viewed below, is the first hearing on cooperatives and an important step toward jumpstarting the cooperative community in Guam.
USFWC Policy Director Mo Manklang was honored to provide testimony alongside Tewid Meresbang, CEO/Co-founder of Pacificnesian Equities*, Linda Phillips of Jason Weiner and Associates, John McNamara of the Northwest Cooperative Development Center* and several other Guam residents.
This legislation, which was recently introduced in October of 2024, has been in the works since early 2023.
