2020 was difficult for all small businesses, and particularly for worker cooperatives. Faced with a lack of understanding from the Small Business Administration as well as lenders facilitating the Paycheck Protection Program, worker-owners were faced with an uphill battle in accessing vitally needed funds.
In early 2020, the USFWC reached out to all of our members to understand exactly the issues that our businesses were facing, and maintains resources to ensure cooperatives have access to funding opportunities related to COVID-19. We were proud to work alongside national and local partners to ensure parity for co-ops alongside, as well as fighting to ensure small businesses were served, instead of corporations.
